Brazilian soccer star Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, who’s known simply as Neymar, made history on Aug. 3, 2017, when FC Barcelona transferred the forward to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a record 222 million euros (approximately $262 million US). PSG, a French club owned by the nation of Qatar, paid the fee in full to release Neymar from his contract, and in turn, signed the forward to a five-year contract worth $350 million. Since making his debut, Neymar has scored 47 goals in 52 games. Comparatively, Lionel Messi, Europe’s top scorer, has 123 goals in 144 appearances during the same amount of time.
