At Strong Girls United, we strive to create a space where mistakes are welcomed and encouraged, a place where girls can try new things without the fear of getting it wrong on the first try. Our youth deserve chances and guidance when picking up something new, rather than overwhelming direction and step-by-step critique. We are so proud of the girls in our programs around the country. I’d like to highlight one of our campers from this summer. We’ve completed four weeks of camp, with new girls joining us each week, some staying for the whole month, and others coming in for a week at a time. One great example of learning through connection happened during track drills. We were setting up hurdles for a relay race, and one girl started the relay but quickly became scared that she couldn't jump over the hurdles. Seeing this, another camper went to the back of the line, held her hand, and said, "You've got this, we can do it together." This supportive action mirrors what our coaches practice every day. Our coaches pride themselves on being hands-on and supportive so our girls feel secure, confident, and seen, especially when trying to overcome a challenge internally. Watching girls show up for each other the way our coaches consistently do is our primary goal. It contributes to our celebration of these athletes every single day, but specifically today on International Youth Day. Our youth are our future, and we are doing everything we can to build strong bodies, kind hearts, and unstoppable minds. Visit Strong Girls United >
